David Remnick, editor-in-chief of the New Yorker, interviews the preeminent Canadian singer, songwriter, poet, and novelist, Leonard Cohen shortly before Cohen’s death. Cohen’s work explored religion, politics, isolation, depression, sexuality, loss, death and romantic relationships. Invested with his nation’s highest civilian honor as a Companion of the Order of Canada, his laurels include the Prince of Asturias Awards for literature and the ninth Glenn Gould Prize, as well as being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
