Dia de Los Muertos

November 3, 2019 - 10:15am

Pat Sanders will lead a service about the "Dia de los Muertos", the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday. Day of the Dead festivities unfold over two days in an explosion of color and life-affirming joy. The theme is death, but the point is to demonstrate love and respect for deceased family members. We will explore the elements of the celebration such as the calaveras, foods, papel picado and more. We will have an ofrenda, or altar, prepared and participants can bring a photo or memento of a deceased loved one to add to the altar.

All are invited to the one-hour service, presented by the Upper Delaware Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, which will be followed by a social time with refreshments. The Narrowsburg Union is at 7 Erie Avenue, Narrowsburg, the former red brick two-story high school, at the only traffic light in Narrowsburg. Park in the rear parking lot of the Union, and then take the path skirting the building to the front, and go in front door which will not involve any steps. Do NOT use the side door. We will meet in room # 102, on the ground floor.
