How Ancient the Days

July 21, 2019 - 10:15am

Lawrence Fabian will present a talk and service about the time-bending archeological site in southeast Turkey known as Göbeklitepe. The time of Abraham is often taken as the beginning of civilized human life. We don't know when Abraham lived, but best estimates are two or three millennia before Christ. Göbeklitepe is pushing the time of complex, organized human endeavor to 10,000 BC, upending our notions of the Ancient of Days.

Fabian graduated from Dartmouth College (1967) and studied city & regional planning at UPenn. His experiences include transport and land use analysis and planning, service as a Peace Corps Volunteer (Iran) and technical writing and publishing. He is conversant in French and Persian, and familiar with German and Turkish.
