the Fables of La Fontaine

July 14, 2019 - 10:15am

For over five hundred years, the Fables of Jean de La Fontaine, told with wit and charm, has defined morally upright behavior for French readers young and old. Therefore, for the first Sunday of the Merry Month of May the Upper Delaware Unitarian/Universalist Fellowship is pleased to welcome Honesdale's own Pearl Hochstadt to read from her fresh translation of the Fables and speak on the master's life. This talk will take place at the Berlin Townshship Community Center in Beach Lake, PA on Sunday, May 5th at 10:15 a.m. Pearl Hochstadt received a bachelor's degree in English from Cornell University and, while still raising her family, a doctorate in English Literature from New York University in 1972. She taught English at Long Island University and other area schools before embarking on this translation after her retirement.
